Target audience is exactly who the media product is aimed at.
It is important for a film to have a target audience so that film makers can know how to appeal to a particular group of people and make their film successful.
I've looked at the audience profiles at 3 films, Mission Impossible, Skyfall and The tourists, because their genre is the one that me and my group are interested into following - hybrid (action, adventure, thriller).
