The conventions of a thriller opening consists of a hero and heroine who establish the disturbance in the equilibrium and try their best to regain peace.  However we do not identify our protagonist so this means that we have gone against the genre convention for our film but this have done for effect as our audience will gain more from the film as it is different and not cliche.

Another convention of a thriller opening which this time we have implicated into our film in the tension raising music. Like seen in mission impossible the thriller spy film,  music accompanies the film to further excite the audience and engage them in the film

Two more conventions of a thriller opening is fast cuts and mystery.  Throughout the film we choose not to show the faces of our characters through slight close up shots, the identities may be revealed later in the film to add more effect as seen like in watch men with the character Rorchach

PRODUCTION - camera choice

When we made the remake for "Gone girl" we used a school camera and for our real film opening we decided to use Eloise's camera because we decided it was better. The shots from our opening look clearer and better quality than the shots from the remake, so we decided out film should be filmed with the better camera and look better overall, and more professional.

PRODUCTION - update on shots, titles and sound

In the final lesson of our editing, we did all the credits and sound layers and we are happy to say that our final sequence is 2 minutes 20 seconds long!

For the sound layers, we added a couple of Foley sounds to create the emphasis of the actions performed. For example, a "Boom" sound is used, along with the slow movement, when I give the notebook to Tyrese so he can take care of the next victim. We also added a soundtrack for the IDENT, which completely matched its design.
However, we were going to use a sound effect of high heels as both the females wear them, but we decided not to as the soundtrack at the background and a sound of high heels didn't match good together.

When editing the titles, we made sure that all of them are in the right order, as this was our feedback from our teacher. We also decided to put them in either black or white colour, because we had to properly decide their places, depending on the background as well.

The following scene with the cup was filmed on a different day than the other shots of that same scene with Tyrese were filmed. Unfortunately, it was on a dark and rainy day. However, we used our knowledge of setting the brightness and contrast up or down, and we changed them so that this scene looks exactly like the rest of the scenes!

Our filming and editing sessions are finally over, and we are really proud of our work and effort.

PRODUCTION - updated sound effects

We added a boom effect in the moment when the book is first swapped between Tyrese and Petya to make it stand out and to make it more dramatic.

PRODUCTION - editing process

Monday, 11th of January, 2016

We took our lesson today to edit the rough cut to an even better version of it. We made a big decision about cutting out one of the spy's scenes and after much thought we decided to cut out Vicky's scene as it was less relevant and less needed. After that we are proud to say that out rough cut progressed:

from rough cut 1 - 04:45 long

to rough cut 3 - 02:45 long.

The decision we made about cutting out one whole character will influence our sequence in a positive way as it is now shorter in length and it keeps the same storyline and actions. We also managed to put our soundtrack on and some foley sounds, such as the sound of a ring bell in school. The original soundtrack we were going to use sounded too dramatic when we put it on the sequence. However, we managed to find a different one, much better and less dramatic, creating the tension and mystery we wanted.

PRODUCTION - My smart targets - Eloise

    PRODUCTION - SWOT ANALYSIS

    SWOT

    Strengths
: My blog uses a lot of visual representation of my information for example instead of just presenting it in word form.  i have done this through the use of prezi, scribd and images, this is a positive addition to my blog

Weaknesses: Our choice of Locations for the filming can come across as unclear due to our last minute changes for our open.  also there is a lack of evidence that supports my work on shot lists, layout, drafting and story boarding as well as the organised use of actors, locations, props and costume

Opportunity: I have enjoyed being able to improve my presentation skills and also being able to explore the site blogger and how to present information in different formats, how to embed visuals and use gifs.

Threats: In the early stages of my blog my posts were very word heavy and were poorly balanced with visual information. some of the information that I include in my blogs may not be 100% relevant to the topic.

PRODUCTION - Setting targets (Task 3)

    - Manage time for blog posts
    - Include more information
    - Finish all blog posts

PRODUCTION - Analysing strengths and weaknesses (Task 2)

    PRODUCTION - strengths and weaknesses

     STRENGTHS

i believe that the planning blog posts were highly visual, this made them more interesting to read and helped to explain and describe the posts.

I believe that the storyboard was good as it was detailed and helped the reader to get a better idea of
    our opening.

The layout is easy to read as i kept my blog posts in the plainer bold texts and avoided colours that cant be seen.

    WEAKNESSES

The research blog posts at the beginning are not as entertaining and visual.

Instead of getting pictures off the internet of our props, we should have prepared them earlier to ensure that we had everything planned and ready.

The standard of my blogs differs where i may have found one harder, or did it too quickly and rushed it.

Some of the blogs may also be in a strange order where i skipped one and came back to it at a later date.
