(Task 9) RESEARCH-What are the 4 different types of film openings?

There are four main categories of a title sequence that can be identified:

                                 TITLES ON A BLANK SCREEN

  • Involves different kinds of face on a black background
  • It is usually in white font
  • Presented in clear font
  • Simple and uncomplicated way to include institutional information at the beginning of a film

                                     TITLES ON STILL IIMAGES

  • More elaborate title sequences
  • Historically title cards developef to include hand draen borders and other images
  • Accompanied by credits to introduce the tone of the film and hint to what genre and themes in the film might be

                               TITLES OVER MOVING IMAGES

  • Incorporates the credit titles with a moving image behind the titles, sound and usually no dialogue
  • Moving image offers: metaphor, narrative thread to help introduce the tone or storylines of the film to the audience.

                     TITLES USING ANIMATION OR MOTION

  • The titles are integrated with the image
  • This requires a lot of digital technology and stylised editing.

FAVOURITE TYPE OF TITLE SEQUENCE
My favourite type of title sequence from the category would be the titles using animation or motion. This is because it is very current. This style also requires a lot of creativity which can also develop my editing and technology skills.
